Further, Buckeye Partners provides engineering and construction management services to chemical companies primarily in the Gulf Coast area. As of December 31, 2007, it owned and operated approximately 5,400 miles of independent refined petroleum products pipeline system serving 17 states; and operated approximately 2,700 miles of pipeline under agreements with oil and chemical companies in the United States.
