First Mariner Bancorp, through its other subsidiaries, engages in consumer finance activities, making small direct cash loans to individuals, the purchase of installment loan sales contracts from local merchants and retail dealers of consumer goods, and loans to individuals via direct mail solicitations; and provision of appraisal services for residential real estate lenders, including appraisal preparation, the compliance oversight of subcontracted appraisers, appraisal ordering and administration, and appraisal review. Further, it originates reverse and conventional mortgages. As of May 20, 2009, the company operated 25 full service bank branches in the Baltimore, Anne Arundel, Harford, Howard, Talbot, and Carroll counties in Maryland; the City of Baltimore, Maryland; and Shrewsbury, Pennsylvania. First Mariner Bancorp was founded in 1994 and is headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland. |
