A. 成功或失敗的描述

1. “To lose one’s shirt” 形容已經或將近損失所有的金錢。

例句：He almost lost his shirt on that deal. He needs to invest more wisely.

1. “To hit the jackpot” 形容在商業上投機成功，或突然暴富。

例句：I wanted a well-paid job with great perks, and I really hit the jackpot with this one.

1. “To feel like a million dollars”意思指你現在的感覺非常良好。

例句：Wow, I feel like a million dollars in this brand new suit!

B. 道盡能力的範圍

1. “To have money to burn”所指的是擁有的金錢數量遠遠超過生活的所需。

例句： He used to be a high-earning broker with money to burn.

1. “To make ends meet”，指的是金錢的數量剛剛好足以維持生計 。

例句：Many people are struggling to make ends meet because salaries are failing to keep pace with rising prices.

1. 當你在某件事情上花費極少，那麼你做這事情時可算是“on a shoestring”。

例句：He runs his business on a shoestring. He never knows from day to day he will survive.

C. 精確地形容事物的狀態

1. “To shell out”是付款的另一說法。

例句：Having shelled out $1500 for the ticket, I’m not going to miss the concert.

1. “To pay an arm and a leg”形容購買十分昂貴的物品。

例句：If you shop around, you won’t have to pay an arm and a leg for this laptop.

1. “To cash in”指的是看準時機賺錢，或者得到某些好處。

例句：This is a good year for drug stocks, and you can cash in on it if you’re smart.

1. 假如你作了一個很好、恰當的決定，你便是“ right on the money” 了。

例句：Her prediction was right on the money.

1. 當你為了儲錢而勒緊褲頭過日子，你便可說是“tighten your belt” 了。

例句：The CEO just announced that the company will have to tighten its belt next season, saying that he will lower salaries and cut expenses.
