Apple Goes Offensive In Samsung's Turf, Taps NewJeans K-Pop For Latest Store In Korea's Popular Gangnam District

  • Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL) celebrates the dynamic Gangnam District with a special Today at Apple session featuring K-pop group NewJeans on March 28.

  • Apple previewed Apple Gangnam in Seoul's famous Gangnam District.

  • Apple Gangnam will offer an exciting space for customers to discover Apple's incredible lineup of products and services.

  • Apple Gangnam has nearly 150 highly skilled retail team members who speak over a dozen languages, helping customers explore the latest Apple products, including the new iPhone 14 lineup.

  • They will also help customers exploit critical retail services, including the Apple Trade-In program, monthly financing options, and Apple Pay.

  • Beginning April 1, music fans will experience Spatial Audio in a limited-time Pop-Up Studio featuring the rising K-pop group, NewJeans, from ADOR.

  • On Friday and Saturday evenings, Apple will treat attendees to a special listening session featuring their hit track "OMG (Apple Music Edition).

  • It marks the iPhone maker's fifth store in the center of Seoul's posh Gangnam district, with local media reporting plans to open a sixth this year. Seoul would then have more Apple Stores than iPhone-loving Tokyo, Bloomberg reports.

  • Apple is also hiring employees to staff Apple's debut stores in Malaysia and has plans to set up its retail outlets in India.

  • Apple now has a retail team of nearly 800 in South Korea, according to Patrick Schuerpf, director of Apple's retail business in Asia.

  • Apple's use of the K-pop band is part of a playbook often employed by Samsung Electronics Co, Ltd (OTC: SSNLF), which has a BTS edition smartphone in the arch-rival's home ground.

  • Price Action: AAPL shares traded higher by 0.72% at $158.75 premarket on the last check Wednesday.
