  • DISH Network Corp (NASDAQ: DISH) is yet to update on user data safety, despite customers continuing to experience issues two weeks after the U.S. satellite television giant suffered a ransomware attack.

  • On February 28, Dish blamed the ransomware for an ongoing outage and warned against data hacks, including customers' personal information, from its systems, TechCrunch reports.

  • TechCrunch learned from customers that they still have no access to Dish or services through its subsidiaries like Boost Mobile.

  • Others have been unable to contact Dish customer services since the incident began two weeks ago. There were stories of consumers affected by email and voice phishing attacks exploiting the uncertainty around the Dish incident.

  • TechCrunch has also heard of customers facing service disconnection due to ongoing issues at the company.

  • Dish spokesperson Edward Wietecha told TechCrunch that "these types of investigations take time."

  • The breach's impact could extend far beyond Dish's ten million-or-so customers.

  • Internet records indicate that Dish hosted its infrastructure until recently before shifting to Amazon.Com Inc's (NASDAQ: AMZN) cloud service around February 23, around the time of the ransomware attack, suggesting a severe impact on Dish's in-house systems.

  • Brett Callow, a ransomware expert and threat analyst at Emsisoft, tells TechCrunch that this, coupled with the fact the disruption has lasted so long, "implies the attack was significant, and that Dish does not have an easy and straightforward path to recovery."

  • Price Action: DISH shares are trading lower by 1.2% at $9.77 on the last check Thursday.
