Microsoft said on Thursday it plans to offer its cloud computing customers a platform of AMD artificial intelligence chips that will compete with components made by Nvidia, with details to be given at its Build developer conference next week. Nvidia shares closed down 0.3% at $943.59 on Thursday. The marketwide rally sparked by April’s inflation data on Wednesday lifted Nvidia shares along with a raft of upbeat analyst estimates ahead of the company’s first-quarter results on May 22.
