In July, $MQ Marqeta extended its agreement with $AFRM Affirm, a Buy Now, Pay Later category leader, through January 2024, showing the long term commitment its customers are making to build and scale on its platform. $MQ –> $50, $AFRM –> $200.
This Bloomberg report tanked fintech companies today.... $SQ $MQ $PYPL all down on the news. I do think that Apple will need to acquire a BNPL company if they plan on taking it seriously... There are many in this space that they can consider, but since Affirm's existing network is already heavily implemented with merchants, I would see Apple paying up to acquire them.
$AFRM started building my position on Friday. I am watching $MQ as well. I like the infrastructure play for these fintech companies. I also have been seeing $AFRM show up all over the place when I have been buying a couple items online... It will get the youngsters hooked on ... stuff. I don't like the platform myself but I could see it being quite popular.
