American Airlines Stock Dives After Guidance Cut. The Sector Is Being Unduly Punished.
More than 2.95 million people were screened at airports across the country Friday, according to Transportation Security Administration data. Despite booming travel demand, American said late Tuesday it now expects adjusted earnings of between $1 and $1.15 per share in the second quarter, down from its previous range of $1.15 to $1.45. American Airlines stock was the worst performer in the on Wednesday, tumbling 14% to $11.62—its largest percent decrease since June 2020.
