Alphabet also reported better-than-expected advertising revenue growth for both Google and YouTube, a positive indicator for Amazon’s own advertising business including ads on Amazon’s e-commerce site and spots on its Amazon Prime Video streaming service. For Amazon’s quarter that ended in March, consensus estimates as tracked by FactSet call for sales of $142.6 billion, up 12% from the year-ago quarter, with profit of 84 cents a share. The Street projects Amazon Web Services revenue of $24.6 billion, up 15%, which would be the best growth in four quarters.

Microsoft will invest $1.7 billion over the next four years into expanding cloud services and artificial intelligence in Indonesia, including building data centres, visiting chief executive Satya Nadella said on Tuesday. Jakarta is Nadella's first stop on a trip to Southeast Asian countries aimed at promoting the U.S. company's generative AI technology.
