UPDATE 1-Tesla has proposed to launch robotaxis in China, Chinese state media reports
Tesla has proposed to launch robotaxis in China, newspaper China Daily reported on Wednesday, citing unnamed sources. According to the report, China may support Tesla's domestic testing and demonstration of robotaxis but has not approved the full implementation of Full Self-Driving (FSD) software in China. Tesla did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the China Daily report.

Luminar Technologies, a maker of lidar sensors for self-driving cars, said on Tuesday that Tesla was the largest customer for its sensors in the first quarter, accounting for more than 10% of its total revenue of $21 million during the period. Tesla's electric vehicles that are sold do not use lidars and it is not clear where Tesla used the sensors.
