Walmart continues to leverage its massive footprint and sophisticated supply chain to offset the impacts of inflation on consumer spending.
The company plans to lower prices on about 5,000 frequently shopped items across its store in a bid to claw back some of the market share it has lost to competitors.
With Walmart making inroads, Target said it's cutting prices on 5,000 items. Earnings are due Wednesday.
