Carillon Tower Advisers, an investment management company, released its “Carillon Eagle Small Cap Growth Fund” first quarter 2024 investor letter. A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. Small-cap stocks reported positive gains in the first quarter, consolidating the last year-end rally. Among the style indexes, the Russell 2000 Growth Index (up 7.58%) outperformed the Russell 2000 Value Index (up 2.91%) by a significant margin after two consecutive quarters of value outperformance. During the quarter, Information technology led the way by increasing 16.38%, outperforming the returns generated by its value counterparts. Carillon Eagle Small Cap Growth Fund highlighted stocks like Freshworks Inc. (NASDAQ:FRSH), in the first quarter 2024 investor letter. Freshworks Inc. (NASDAQ:FRSH) is a software development company. The one-month return Freshworks Inc. (NASDAQ:FRSH) was -6.20%, and its shares lost 15.96% of their value over the last 52 weeks. On May 30, 2024, Freshworks Inc. (NASDAQ:FRSH) stock closed at $13.16 per share with a market capitalization of $3.932 billion.

Carillon Eagle Small Cap Growth Fund stated the following regarding Freshworks Inc. (NASDAQ:FRSH) in its first quarter 2024 investor letter:

"Freshworks Inc. (NASDAQ:FRSH) provides customer support software that helps businesses interact with customers via email, website and social channels. The company reported relatively healthy results compared to expectations and showed improving cash flow. Investors, however, have had concerns about whether the company’s products might be displaced by artificial intelligence-enabled tools. We believe that the company itself is a beneficiary of AI tools and, without its deep know-how, complex customer service issues cannot be relegated to basic AI chat bots."
