SpaceX's fourth Starship test flight proves successful

SpaceX has achieved a major milestone with the successful launch and landing of its fourth Starship test flight from Texas. This flight performed a landing burn maneuver, which allowed the spacecraft to slow down enough to re-enter Earth's atmosphere safely.

Yahoo Finance's Brad Smith breaks down the details.

Spacex finally successfully launching its starship to space and back today.

Really exciting news for them, the rocket completing its first landing burn, meaning the spacecraft was able to slow down enough to re enter the atmosphere, eventually splashing into the Gulf of Mexico.

This marks the rockets fourth test flight back with us to chat about.

This is our very own Brad Brad.

The second launch that you and I have had the pleasure of discussing this week.

What sticks out to you about this 12 launches in just two days.

What's not to be excited about?

And this is a massive view coming off of what was already a record year for some of the global launches last year in 2023.

Uh As many people may remember here, you saw 98 orbital launches from SpaceX during 2023.

That was about 90% of the total US launches here.

So this just another feather in the cap here for SpaceX uh company that I think does have a feather in its logo somewhere in there.

But anyway, all these things considered one of the major things going forward is just how the able to continue to use so much of the data in these test launches and continue to drum up even more contracts as we were discussing yesterday with a lot of the governments internationally that are looking to make sure that in their quest for space exploration, more of these tests are able to get them a little bit closer to having sustainable reusable flights as well.

Yeah, exactly.

And I think that's the key question.

right?

Because they have made the commitment that they would launch.

I think they said hundreds, definitely several, several, several of these types of launches before ever putting a crew in these type of rockets.

So I think the question is what exactly that realistic timeline looks like.

And then of course, begs the question of what that appetite for demand is, right?

Just in terms of how willing people are going to be.

I for one am not, I've always said that I'm not that much of a risk taker.

No, I, you know, I'm good.

They could do if you're not going up the first one.

No, I I'm gonna, yeah.

Yeah, definitely not first, definitely, probably not even in the first couple 100.

But I think that that is the key question.

Right.

And then in terms of also how affordable is going to be, how do they make it affordable?

I need not be that easy payments.
